Wildlife

Bicheno’s little penguins return from the ocean at dusk to their burrows along the coast.

East Coast Natureworld is just north of Bicheno, while the waters around town offer diving, boating and marine wildlife experiences.

Governors is a favourite for breakfast, brunch or a good coffee. Blue Edge Bakery is the classic holiday bakery run for pies, pastries and easy stops.

Seafood & dinner

The Lobster Shack serves Tasmanian seafood on the waterfront at the Gulch. Le Coq and Food ’n’ Brew Co are options when dinner in town calls.

Waubs Bay is close and uncomplicated, Redbill is the surfing-friendly beach, and Denison offers a long dog-friendly beach walk.

Beyond Bicheno

Make a day of the East Coast.

Douglas-Apsley National Park is known for dry eucalypt forests, waterholes, river gorges and waterfalls, with short walks and longer adventures.

Freycinet National Park is around 30 minutes south, making Sea Forever an excellent base for exploring the peninsula, Wineglass Bay and the granite coastline.

Spend the day walking and swimming, then come back to Bicheno for a shower, a cold drink and dinner on the deck.
